WAVE CARVER BABIES TO MAKE A BIG SPLASH AT EQUINE SALE

LOS ALAMITOS RACE COURSE, CYPRESS, CA… The wait is over. Yearlings sired by 2006 Champion of Champions winner Wave Carver are here and six of them will be featured at this year’s Los Alamitos Equine Sale on October 3 and 4. For racing enthusiasts, the opportunity to catch glimpses of the super six babies sired by Wave Carver will be a treat. After all, Wave Carver left his mark at the Orange County track, winning several races in awe inspiring fashion, including the Los Alamitos Super Derby, Governor’s Cup Derby, and of course the Champion of Champions in the rain.

Royal Vista Equine will have two Wave Carver fillies as part of its consignment, while Vessels Stallion Farms will have three Wave Carver babies. The other Wave Carver has been consigned by Nancy Yearsley and J. Garvan Kelly as Hip #164, a colt out of Sky Chicks named Duke Kahanamoku.

Royal Vista Equine and Vessels Stallion Farms have loved Wave Carver for a very long time. Vaughn Cook, who operates Royal Vista Equine, and Vessels Stallion Farm were involved in the partnership that saw him win 11 of 18 starts and over $1 million in earnings. Royal Vista Equine has consigned the fillies Wave Bye Bye (Hip #153) and Smooch (Hip #246) to the Equine Sale catalog. Vessels Stallion Farm is selling Hip #347, a colt named Illegal Wave, Hip #360, a colt named Better As A Memory, and Hip #385, a colt named Americus.

Illegal Wave is out of a young mare named Illegal Doll, who ran third in the Oklahoma Distaff Challenge a few years ago. Her family is blessed with several major names, including Easily A Rogue, who made over $300,000, and A Run Run Runaway, who pocked nearly $150,000. The blood of Runaway Winner is prominent on both the top and bottom of Illegal Wave’s lineage.

Better As A Memory is out of Girl In The Curl, an unraced Thoroughbred mare by In Excess, who did produce the Quarter Horse Real Good Man, who finished third in both the Rainbow Derby and Ruidoso Derby and was also a finalist to the Ruidoso Futurity. Girl In Curl’s mother is the famous In The Curl, the mother of stakes winner Harbor Beach and of Wave Carver’s mother Runaway Wave, an AQHA Broodmare of the Year. In Better As A Memory’s case, In the Curl is prominent on both the top and the bottom.

Then there is Americus, who is consigned by Vessels and Rick Decker and John Prather. The sorrel May colt is out of Jazzes Charger, who is a sister to the champion Los Alamitos Derby winning gelding Uncas, as well as the mother of both Voodoo Chilly, who has made nearly $40,000 and of Silver V, who has pocketed nearly $25,000. Americus’ third dam is the great champion Black Sable, the Rainbow Derby winner, who went on to produce stakes winner Sables Defender ($172,318), and Sables Secret ($155,081).

Royal Vista Equine is the home of the young stallion Wave Carver, who was syndicated to stud following his Champion of Champions victory in ‘06. During his racing career, Wave Carver raced not only for Cook and Vessels but also for Gary Muller and for breeder Dan Lucas. His first Wave Carver baby to enter the Equine Sale auction ring will be Wave Bye Bye, who is a half sister of champion Paint Horse Tiene Mucho Blanco, Los Alamitos stakes winner Just Wanna Be Me, All American Futurity third place finisher Devons Signature, and Golden State Million Futurity finalist See If I Care. All these outstanding horses, including Wave Bye Bye, are out of The Signature mare Shirleys Signature.

The second Wave Carver yearling that will come into the auction ring will be Smooch, a gray filly out of the Thoroughbred mare Bella Banissa. Sired by Good And Tough, the stakes placed Bella Banissa made nearly $200,000 in her racing career. She is the mother of the Ocean Runaway gelding Sci Fi, who placed in a race for 2-year-olds at Los Alamitos earlier this year.

Royal Vista Equine will offer an excellent consignment at the Equine Sale, featuring a wide variety of bloodlines from prominent stallions like Teller Cartel, Ocean Runaway, Hawkinson, A Regal Choice, Special Leader, Devons Signature, Splash Bac, Fishers Dash, Panther Mountain, and Dash To Chivato. Hip #290 is a bay colt named Filthy Fast, a son of Splash Bac out of the millionaire champion mare Corona Kool. Teller Cartel, meanwhile, is one of the top freshman stallions in the nation. He is the sire of Hip #9 Kodiak Kowboy, a brown colt out of the First Down Dash mare Legend Of Fire, who is a half sister to the 870-yard stakes winner Tokay Flame.

With locations in Fort Collins, Colorado and Wayne, Oklahoma, Royal Vista Equine is one of the premier facilities in Quarter Horse racing. Royal Vista is a full service breeding facility specializes in embryo transfers, breeding management, embryo vitrification, and semen freezing collection.
